AudioMulch is an interactive musician’s environment for PC and Mac. AudioMulch is used for live electronic music performance, composition and sound design.
The user interface has been re-coded from the ground up and a number of enhancements have been made along the way. The full impact of these changes will be seen as new versions are released, since it is now easier to add new features and enhancements going forward. The list below summarises new features in version 2.0.
* A new Patcher with advanced drag-and-drop patching and MIDI routing (see below).
* MIDI and automation control for Clock transport (tempo, stop, start) and Metasurface interpolation.
* Enhanced Drums contraption with 8 channels and a new pattern editor supporting arbitrary length high-resolution patterns.
* New “Startup Actions” settings allow you to enable audio, MIDI, transport, sync, and to load documents when AudioMulch starts.
* Expanded multichannel audio I/O capability to support up to 256 channels in each direction and improved compatibility with consumer multichannel audio interfaces using DirectSound and Windows Multimedia drivers.
* Increased audio processing efficiency.
* Various work-flow improvements (see below).
New ?Patcher
The new Patcher includes features to make performing with AudioMulch more intuitive.
* Drag-and-drop contraption creation (drag a new contraption over an existing input or output to connect or attach it).
* Reconnectable patch cords (grab them at either end).
* Multichannel connection creation.
* Patchable MIDI routing between VST contraptions and the new MidiIn1-8 contraptions.
* Contraption input and output level meters in the Patcher.
Work-flow ?Improvements
Work-flow improvements include:
* Non-modal floating Parameter Control window.
* Dockable Patcher and Automation panes for improved multi-monitor operation.
* Faster access to parameter values and MIDI control via slider/knob double-click options.
* Nameable contraption presets.
AudioMulch ?2.0 ?Backwards ?Compatibility
You can run and edit your AudioMulch 1.0 documents in AudioMulch 2.0.
You can also load AudioMulch 2.0 documents in AudioMulch 1.0. However, if you intend to continue to use your old version 1.0 of AudioMulch please note:
If you edit an AudioMulch 1.0 document containing a Drums contraption in version 2, the Drums patterns will no longer load in version 1. This will happen even if you just load and save the document without editing any drum patterns. So if you wish to continue to use both versions 1 and 2 of AudioMulch, please make backup copies of your existing patches before you edit them in AudioMulch 2.0.
